Pedagogical adaptations of the concept of habitus are focusing more intensively upon the potential for transformation, developing an understanding of habitus in which formation and transformation appear dialectically interwoven. The question as to the relationship between habitus formation and transformation is also at the core of the following article. It is explored by way of interviews conducted with junior teaching staff that leverage the method of video elicitation and focus upon the perception and evaluation of body-centric teaching practices. Alongside fundamental differences, the case studies selected exhibit crucial similarities: habitual patterns of perception and interpretation are coping strategies for resolving field-specific situations of conflict such as the imposition of discipline. At the same time, it is clear that these patterns are irritable and fragile and that the habitus is
thus not a sealed tank but a vulnerable structure with the capacity to exert momentum and to experience displacement.
