The article presents the results of the research project « Teaching History in a Competency-Oriented Way », which was conducted at the PHBern from 2020-2023. It asked whether Bernese history teachers at secondary level I plan and conduct their lessons in a competence-oriented way against the background of the introduction of Curriculum 21, what knowledge they express about this and what beliefs they articulate. The article describes the analytical framework and the research design, outlines an initial typology and a case study, and discusses the results presented.
