Full text not available from this repository.Reading primers have a dual educational mandate: they acquaint children with written language, as well as they implement – through the texts they contain – pedagogical concerns. By analyzing reading primers from the canton of Berne (from the end of the 17th to the beginning of the 20th century), this article examines the extent to which religion as educational goal is reflected in these teaching materials.
